Shirer, Frank. "Pearl Harbor: Irredeemable Defeat"
Divergence: 1941 CE
What if: Pearl Harbor received short warning of the Japanese attack, and the USS Enterprise was not delayed in its approach to Hawaii for two hours by bad weather.
Summary: The attack on Pearl Harbor turns out even worse for the Americans. The Nevada is sunk in the middle of the channel leading into Pearl Harbor, blocking it for months. And with the Enterprise also eliminated, Japanese commander Nagumo decides it is safe enough to send the third wave of attackers, destroying critical facilities at the anchorage.
