Gogola, Tom. "Jimi's Last Jam"
Divergence: 1972 CE
What if: Jimi Hendrix survived his overdose in 1972 and went clean.
Summary: He lives twenty more years, shifting away from rock towards jazz and losing his popularity. In 1995 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opening ceremonies, disaster strikes when he concludes a live performance by lighting his guitar on fire. Curiously, except for an almost altered 1972 presidential election, Hendrix's extended life has few effects, even within the music industry.
